Did you know you could shave off significant amounts of money from your daily routine simply by making a few adjustments to your morning schedule? Read on to find out a few simple changes you can make to help stretch your dollar as far as possible.
Take the Joe to Go
No matter how big of a rush we’re in, a lot of us just can’t seem to function without our morning cup of Joe. But before you rush out to Starbucks to pick up your Venti Caramel Macchiato Double-Shot, consider the impact on your wallet. A Venti coffee from Starbucks can run you anywhere from $3-$6-that’s $20-$30 leaking out of your wallet each week. Instead of stopping by the drive-thru, try getting up ten minutes earlier and brewing a fresh cup of coffee at home. Depending on the brand, a month’s supply of coffee beans/grounds will probably cost you less than a week’s worth of Starbucks. Plus, with the wide variety of creamers now available at grocery stores, you can pretty much mimic whichever flavor is your favorite.
Bust Out the Cooking Pans
This suggestion falls along the same lines as the previous one. By simply waking up 10-15 minutes earlier, you can save your wallet and your health by making a simple homemade breakfast. Contrary to popular belief, coffee isn’t considered a food group and therefore shouldn’t be the only thing you consume before you start your day. Not only will cooking breakfast at home save you from spending money at bagel/donut shops but it will also jump-start your metabolism and hold you over until lunch so you’re not buying snacks and candy from your office vending machine.
Make a date with your Lunchbox
Packing your lunch may seem simple or even downright obvious but how many of us actually do it? Packed lunches may not seem glamorous and it can be tempting to take the easy way out and just go out to eat with the rest of your coworkers. However, even if you only pack your lunch for two or three days out of the week, that’s still between $15-$30 that you could be saving-depending on where you typically go out to eat.
Cutting back on your spending doesn’t have to be rocket science; it just requires some extra dedication and commitment. Adjust your morning routine by a mere 20-30 minutes and watch the savings pile up.
